Lots of young gamers would love to work in the games industry, but most study programmes teach you to design or code a game, not to market or sell one. Hogeschool PXL in Hasselt saw that gap and launched Gaming Business, a new track in its business management and marketing bachelor. With an info day coming up on 9 September 2023, it wanted gamers to hear about the track in the last weeks of the summer holidays.
Behind the microphone in his gaming room, DikkeSvekke turned to his chat mid-stream to tell them that Hogeschool PXL was starting a gaming business track, with an info day on 9 September. He was one of four Flemish streamers, with Espe, Abulic and Frapsel, that we chose together with PXL because they had already made gaming their job. For two weeks they kept the track on screen in their Twitch streams, and some even opened the course website live to read it with their chat. On TikTok, each of them started from their own story: DikkeSvekke organises Comic Con, Espe streams full time and hosts a gaming podcast, and Frapsel worked out how much she had spent on a game that is free to play. Press start on a career.
