Gamers know Halo inside out, and a show based on their favourite game has to win over fans who know the story better than anyone. Streamz wanted the Belgian gaming community to know that the series was coming exclusively to Streamz from 25 March 2022, with a new episode every Friday and a free trial to start watching. And it wanted that news to come from the people gamers already watch for hours.
Master Chief fights the Covenant on screen, but in Belgium the first battle was fought on Twitch. For a month, a group of streamers, Twoosie, DikkeSvekke and Espe among them, kept Halo on screen in their streams, practised Halo Infinite live and then faced each other in a tournament. At the FACTS comic con they filmed TikToks at the Streamz booth: Espe asked passers-by to name Master Chief, DikkeSvekke almost spoiled the ending for a fan, and Twoosie had herself drawn in Spartan armour. TikTok stars such as Younes Idrissi and Kurkdroog, and comedian William Boeva on Instagram, took the news beyond the gaming crowd, while Spark Ads carried every TikTok further. No spoilers, just a free trial.
