Logistics is behind almost everything we buy, yet few young people picture it as a career. For Howest’s two new logistics programmes, actor and presenter Amir Motaffaf hosted a TikTok series, from the warehouse floor to the classroom.

Supply chain management sounds like a job for later, in an office you have never seen. Howest, the university of applied sciences in West Flanders, had just launched two programmes in that field: a bachelor’s in supply chain management and an associate degree in transport and logistics. It wanted young people who were choosing a study over the summer to discover the sector and both programmes on TikTok, in videos that are fun to watch.
We built it as a mini-series on Howest’s own TikTok, with one familiar face as the host: Amir Motaffaf, known from the Ketnet series 4eVeR. In the first episodes he toured logistics companies in Flanders in a safety vest and helmet, and asked interns and staff what everyone knows about the sector, and what almost nobody does. Later episodes moved to the Howest campus in Bruges, where students summed up their programme in one word, named their favourite subject and said whether they felt ready for work, before their lecturers had the last word. Amir then shared a video with bloopers from the shoot on his own TikTok, with an invitation to the info days, and every video also ran as a TikTok ad. Next stop: the info day.
