UGC and Influencer Marketing

A better grip, shown two ways on TikTok.

Taped-up thumbsticks, sweaty hands and a lost match: gamers in Belgium and the Netherlands showed on TikTok why KontrolFreek’s thumbsticks and grips beat a home-made fix.

The challenge

Most gamers only notice their controller when something goes wrong: a slipping thumb, a missed shot, a match that got away. KontrolFreek, the SteelSeries brand behind performance thumbsticks and grips, wanted gamers in Belgium and the Netherlands to see how its products add comfort and precision, and to take a look in its shop.

What we did

We tested two routes side by side, with creators we chose together with KontrolFreek. In the UGC part, Gurlpowerrrr and Strijdergili from the Netherlands and Abulic from Belgium made videos that KontrolFreek ran as ads from its own TikTok account. Strijdergili lost a match with a home-made, taped-up controller before the real thumbsticks turned the game around. Abulic tackled sweaty hands with grips, and Gurlpowerrrr clicked new thumbsticks onto her controller at her gaming desk. In the influencer part, creators posted on their own channels, and we boosted those posts as Spark Ads from their own accounts. Tape not required.
